Some of you already know me. For those who don't, my 2001 Cobra has some mild work done to it. Outside looks - carbon fiber 3" cowl hood, 03 side scoops, rear wing moved back 3", FR500 wheels. Motor-oversized valves, mild port work, 3 angle valve job, cone filter, SCT tuner with mild tune. BBK long tubes, UPR O/R Xpipe, Steeda sub-frame bushings, aluminum quadrant, firewall adjuster, and a 500 hp clutch. More 03 body parts to come. Down for a rebuild. Going fully forged and supercharged. List will grow on future mods.

So is it a 4.6 aluminum block or just better heads that a gt? And i knew the cobra r was n/a but never knew why there was such an obsession with the 03s

I might be wrong but i think the n/a cobras just had better heads/cam, '03 & '04 cobras are s/c

Umm.. I'm no turdsang guy, but I believe the N/A cobras are DOHC and the GT's are SOHC?

you are correct too. 01 cobras are 32 valve

Terms for the newer Ford motors are 2V, 3V, and 4V
or 4 cammer.

98,99,01 cobras, Aluminum motor 9.8:1 compression (320hp)

mach1 has the aluminum motor 10:1 compression and shares the same heads as the 03-04 Cobras, marauder, aviator. (305hp)


03/04 cobras iron block Supercharged. All 4v.





Buillits are a special Gt, new intake mufflers etc.. 2mph faster than a gt stock to stock.

96,97,97,98 had 290 hp. Along with IMRC plates. 99 were supposed to have 320 but fell short. Ford done a upgrade to 99 owners to bump hp to 320. The reason there is not a 2000 Cobra with the exemption of the Cobra R. 2001 Cobras had 320 hp. Teskid block was used in earlier years, 96-98. 04 heads are better because of the 11 thread plug hole compared to the 5 thread on the other years. I read that the Mach 1 had a cast iron block. I have never looked myself, but I have read it in several sources.

My 01 has 10.5:1 compression, stock. Unsure on othets right off hand.
